Historically Sardar Sohrab Khan founded the town of Dera Ismail Khan on the western bank of Indus river in 1469. NWFP was carved out on 9th November 1901 and DIKhan was detached from Punjab and included in the new province as a District. Now after merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DIKhan Division consists of three districts namely DIKhan, Tank and South Waziristan Tribal District.
Geographically DIKhan Division shares borders with Punjab in East and Baluchistan Province in South West. District Lakki Marwat is located in the North while it has border with Afghanistan in the North West.
Total area of the Division is 18254 Sq.Kms. As per Census-2017, Population of the Division is 2803147. DIKhan Division is enriched culturally and historically having fertile land which is being irrigated through CRBC and Gomal Zam Dam project contributing a lot to the economic growth.
It is no denying the fact that Gomal University DIKhan is contributing a lot in the field of education since last few decades. The future of DIKhan Division is thought to be more prosperous due to various mega projects like CPEC. Due to geographical and regional developments, the role of Divisional and District Administration is very imperative for providing best service delivery to the general public through effective and efficient administration. We are trying our level best to maintain rule of law, harmony and equilibrium in the region under the brilliant leadership of Commissioner DIKhan Division DIKhan and pray for peace and tranquility of the public.
